HVAC · Ribera, NM 87560
Cobra HVAC handles HVAC work across Ribera and San Miguel County.
Technicians look over the full system during HVAC maintenance to spot worn parts or airflow restrictions before they lead to bigger failures.
After the check you get a written list of findings and options for AC repair so you can decide what to handle first.
Trucks carry common filters, capacitors, and belts so many visits end with the unit running again the same day after furnace repair.
Services
Technicians follow a consistent inspection sequence that identifies the root cause rather than replacing parts at random. Every repair includes a post-service performance check to confirm the system operates within expected ranges, and similar attention is given during furnace repair visits.
Get a quoteWe focus on accurate diagnosis and careful repairs that match the furnace model. Every visit includes safety checks on venting and gas connections before any adjustments are made. We also handle related needs such as AC repair when they arise during the same visit.
Get a quoteCobra HVAC focuses on finding the root cause during the visit rather than swapping parts until the problem stops. The same technician stays with the job from inspection through testing so nothing gets lost between steps.
Get a quoteEach home receives a load calculation before equipment is ordered. Installations follow manufacturer torque and pressure specifications rather than shortcuts. A final performance check is documented and left with the homeowner.
Get a quoteCobra HVAC records load calculations and static pressure readings for every installation. Equipment is matched to the measured requirements of the home rather than replaced on a like-for-like basis.
Get a quoteTechnicians carry calibrated instruments and record every measurement on a standardized form. Findings are explained on site so owners understand what requires attention now versus later.
Get a quoteTechnicians arrive with tools sized for residential ductwork and follow a set sequence that protects the home while addressing the areas that need attention. The focus stays on removing accumulated material rather than adding treatments.
Get a quoteA service call starts with listening to the unit run and checking the thermostat settings. From there the technician opens the access panels to look at the blower wheel, evaporator coil, and any visible duct connections. Dust buildup or a slipping belt often shows up right away. If the outdoor condenser has bent fins or blocked airflow from nearby shrubs, that gets noted too. The goal is to match what you feel inside the house with what the equipment is actually doing. Once the main restriction or electrical issue is isolated, the tech explains the repair path without rushing into parts replacement. In many cases a simple cleaning or capacitor swap restores normal operation.
Loose wiring at the contactor or a failing run capacitor can stop a compressor from starting even when the thermostat calls for cooling. The same symptoms sometimes trace back to a tripped safety switch on the furnace. Homeowners can usually rule out a dead thermostat battery or a tripped breaker before the visit, but deeper control board or sensor checks require the right meter and experience. We keep those steps straightforward so you know exactly which component needs attention during heating system repair.

Our process
The process begins when you describe the symptoms and we schedule a time that fits your day. Once on site the technician verifies the issue with measurements and visual checks before any AC installation work starts.
The first part of any job is confirming the model numbers and age of the equipment. That information helps narrow down which parts are likely to fail next. After the initial run test, the technician measures temperatures across the coil and pressures on the refrigerant lines if the system uses them. These readings show whether the charge is correct or if a leak has developed. When a part needs replacement, the old component is shown to you before it goes into the bin. At the end of the call you receive a written summary that lists what was found and what was corrected.
Houses built before central air became standard often have smaller closets or crawl spaces for the indoor unit. That layout can make filter changes and coil cleaning more involved, so extra time is allowed for those locations. Ductwork that was added later may have sharp turns or undersized returns that limit performance. We note those conditions so future upgrades can address the real constraints instead of just swapping the outdoor unit after duct cleaning.
The climate in any area determines the demands placed on heating and cooling equipment throughout the year. Ribera experiences hot summers and cold winters, dry air, around 23 inches of snow a year, and 137 nights below freezing. Homes must be equipped to handle both temperature swings and moisture variations to maintain consistent indoor comfort.
The ground under a property affects how structures settle and how outdoor units perform. Ribera is built on clay loam. Proper installation accounts for these variations to ensure long-term reliability of the system.
Water quality from local sources can impact components like heat exchangers over extended periods. Ribera draws moderately hard water from the taps. This area often contends with a long freeze season and a dry climate. These factors influence the choice of equipment and maintenance needs for optimal performance in local homes.
Cobra HVAC handles heating, cooling and ventilation for homes and businesses across New Mexico. The state's different terrains and climates put varying demands on systems, and our techs are ready for that wherever the job takes them. We cover everything from routine maintenance to full replacements, keeping performance reliable for local conditions.
Clear communication starts right away. After checking the system we lay out what we found in plain language and give options with prices upfront. That way owners can decide without any hidden costs.
Everyone on the team trains to the same standards, so service stays steady from one spot to the next. Regular upkeep and quick repairs keep things running well, and we target a rapid response time on problems. Breakdowns don't stick to business hours, so we stay available after hours when needed.

Each job follows the property's needs along with manufacturer specs and safety rules.
Working all over New Mexico has shown us many different buildings and conditions. We use that to shape advice on the spot. Owners can call with questions about their setup before booking, and we share what we know to help the conversation. It adds up to reliable HVAC support statewide.
Pricing
The total depends on the age of the equipment, how accessible the unit is, and whether any refrigerant or specialty parts are required. The figures below are starting points only.
Diagnostic visit — starting at $125 AC repair (capacitor or contactor) — starting at $185 Furnace repair (limit switch or igniter) — starting at $210 Coil cleaning — starting at $275 Thermostat replacement — $165-$295 Blower motor replacement — $450-$725 Full system tune-up — starting at $165 Ductwork repair or sealing — $300-$650
Landlords often need quick turnaround between tenants so the next occupant has working heat and cooling. The same checklist applies, but extra attention goes to the thermostat programming and filter access so the property manager can handle routine tasks without another call. Small offices and retail spaces have different load patterns because of computers, lights, and foot traffic. We adjust the maintenance schedule to match those hours rather than treating every building the same. In both cases the invoice is itemized by unit so the owner can track costs across multiple addresses.
A spring visit focuses on the cooling side: cleaning the outdoor coil, verifying fan rotation, and confirming the condensate drain is clear. Fall visits shift to the heating side, checking the heat exchanger for cracks and testing safety switches. Between those visits, homeowners can keep the outdoor unit free of leaves and make sure return vents stay unobstructed. These simple habits reduce the chance of an unexpected shutdown during the first hot or cold snap. When a system is already ten or more years old, the check also includes a reminder about efficiency ratings so replacement planning can start before a total failure.
FAQ
Most filters slide out from a marked compartment near the indoor unit and can be swapped without tools. If the system still runs poorly after a new filter is installed, the next step is a check of the blower wheel and evaporator coil for deeper buildup. A service call then confirms whether the issue is limited to airflow or something further in the refrigeration circuit.
Short cycling often comes from an oversized system, a dirty filter that restricts airflow, or a failing thermostat that misreads room temperature. The technician checks the temperature split across the coils and reviews the recent run times logged by the control board. Once the cause is identified the repair focuses on restoring steady operation rather than masking the symptom.
The price depends on the location of the leak, whether access requires removing panels or moving ductwork, and how much refrigerant must be recovered and replaced. Small leaks in accessible lines are often less expensive than those inside the coil itself. A full diagnosis is needed before an accurate range can be given.
